In the case of an infection, a wound must sometimes be re-opened in order for it to heal.
In other cases, bones and joints must be re-broken in order to be set correctly for proper healing.
When the Israelites were wandering in the wilderness, they were stricken with poisonous snakes that killed many people. Here’s what Moses did:
So Moses made a serpent of bronze, and put it upon a pole; and whenever a serpent bit someone, that person would look at the serpent of bronze and live.*
Though it probably needs to be done with surgeon-like touch, facing our fears, our troubles, our wounds might be the first step to God’s healing.
*Numbers 21:9. I was told this story by a mentor of mine, whose wisdom I’m constantly grateful for.
