From the series: All Things New
Amanda and I dated for 3 months before getting engaged. Your initial reaction, like many, is probably: “isn’t it too early?” I heard a story once of a couple getting engaged after knowing each other for ONE WEEK! Crazy, I know. But they are still married, and have been for 20+ years. Now how does that work? In truth, it’s difficult to come up with rules to relationships. Two pastors, after losing their spouses, fall in love “a little too soon” as some advised them. There are no rules when it comes to relationships.
Imagine that just before a husband and wife would sign the marriage certificate, the man would say: “Ok , here’s the game plan: I would like 2.5 kids, a chocolate lab, a 3 bedroom house with a yard that’s not too small but not too big either cause I don’t want to spend too much time mowing. Also, we’re going to never fight, never get stressed out, and generally be happy all the time.”
Relationships are those things that you kinda have to let play out…you can’t write the script and then dictate what the actors will say and what they will do.
Love…relationships…can’t be drawn up on paper.
